Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] virally induced lymphosarcoma

HI Jen-
If there is anything that could be stressing Dobie right now ( sick
cagemate, change in routine, change in environment, etc) that could
be part of the cause of the swollen nodes. Here we find that ferrets
which are stressed for a while develop gastric conditions, or
ulcers, helicobacter etc. These low grade infections will cause the
nodes to swell. The shelter vet recommends first running a course
of antibiotics to eliminate that possibility and if that does not
help investigating further.

Another tip -- Just your stress over a sick ferret could be
projected and picked up by another and then that ferret who is
sensitive will stress too! Hope this lessens your worries and gives
you some direction.

Best wishes-
alicia

I have a book that mentions that there's a possibility that

I'm sure I'm a hypochondriac right now considering everything
that's happening with Newton, but today I noticed that Dobie's
lymph nodes feel big. Dobie's otherwise a healthy girl although
she's fat and her tail is a little bald, but is it sensible to
have her go through the aspirates too?
