Subject: Re: FW: Adrenal disease in wild Newzealand ferrets

Looks like these are males. I have seen this in domestic breeder
male ferrets and it was not adrenal related.

Several years ago I had a 'very' inseason hob. Didn't use him for
the breeding season. He stayed in season for at least a year.
Started losing hair, in the classic 'adrenal' pattern. If a vet had
seen him, I am sure he would have been scheduled for adrenal surgery.

Took him to the vet and had him neutered. Within a month all his fur
reappeared. Never had issues with balding ever again. When he
passed away, I had a post done and both adrenals were normal.

I currently have a couple of 'boys' who will rub off their fur when
fully in season. They always grow back gorgeous coats when they
cycle out. Alot of hobs also get rat tails aka 'rut tails' when in
for a long time.

Just my 2 cents.
