Subject: Re: "My ferret is losing hair on his tail"

My Marshall Farms male started his adventures with adrenal disease with hair
loss on his tail. I thought it occured more on the rump at the base of the
tail, but fortunately I have an experienced ferret vet who was able to remove
the left gland and large tumor. He had not had any unusual mating behviour,
but had become more aggressive in other ways. Although the classic symptoms
might be the same, maybe different ferrets have their own behaviour changes
that alert us to something being wrong. My vet said it is important to try
to get a diagnosis early. I hope you can find a good vet, I would certainly
advise trying to locate one experienced in ferrets. My boy lost almost all
his hair following surgery, but it started to grow right back. The surgery
was last April, and it was well worth it to have him back to normal.
Good luck to you
Susan
