Subject: Treating anemia in ADV+ ferrets
Hi all,
I have a question for this list.
One of the problems ADV+ ferrets often face is anemia. I have
been using Pet Tinic with mine that have this problem, but
have not really seen any improvement.
I know there are some new drugs out there for use with humans
- Procrit for one. Could something like this be used with
ferrets? And, I have my kids on Imuran (experimentally) with
the hope it will decrease their gammaglobulins. If Procrit
could be used with ferrets, would it be safe to use while
Imuran was being given.
My vet is willing to let me try new things, but usually wants
to know it is not likely to be harmful, and he admits he is
not familiar enough with Procrit to have an opinion.
