If he has fluid retention, why would you give sub-q fluids? I am
asking this out of total ignorance. Just doesn't make sense to my
non-medical, unscientific mind.

When I gave Champ fluids, he got 40ml twice a day. I think it's
difficult to move the needle around. I would get him interested in
soup, NutriCal, or whatever. I would then put the needle in and
inject 10-15ml. I would then, leaving the needle in, gently massage
the big lump until it dispersed. Then, I would inject a little more,
and continue this procedure until he received all that he needed. It
was much easier on me just to poke him once. As far as I know,
either way is OK but the vets on the List might disagree.
