and All Advise Welcome

Dear Dr. Williams:

Please accept my gracious thank you for your offer to read Chewy's
Biopsy. The Vet did not perform any tests on Chewy's visit, he
stated pretty much the same thing that you have. In a nutshell ,
those lumps on my little boy are breasts and they're due to the
Adrenal problems. The top two (parallel) nipples are still the most
swollen (not very large but noticeable). The Vet increased Chewy's
dosage of Lupron from 250 to 375 Micrograms. This is Chewy's 2nd
dosage of Lupron and I am hoping that he will take to it soon. The
Vet actually noticed the lumps on our first visit (last month) but I
only noticed last week, as they were definitely more prominent. I
would think that the Lupron should have counteracted any funny
hormone business like that. I'll try to get a photo out to you
soon!

You stated that you've seen this about 5 times over the years, were
these other ferrets treated with Lupron? and if so, what was the
normal amount of time that it took to see a response (if any)?

Thank you,
Mary

Dear Mary:

The likeliest possibility here is mammary gland hyperplasia as a
result of the adrenal disease. The increased estrogen can do it -

it's certainly not common, but I have seen in about five times
over
the years. Please get a photo if you can, and if a biopsy is ever

taken, I'd be happy to read it at no charge.

I am unfamiliar with any side effects of the medications that you
mention that would cause this.

With kindest regards,

Bruce Williams, dVM
