what is STAT?

I hadn't seen a reply to this, but if I missed it, I am sorry
for the repeat
information.
STAT is a high caloric supplement that can be used to help
sustain sick
animals that are not eating. It can also be used to put
weight back on an
animal that has been sick, and has lost considerable amounts
of weight.
IMHO, it should not be used on healthy ferrets, because it is
not high in
protein, and while it will help a ferret gain fat, it will not
help with
muscle development.
I consider STAT to be liquid gold. I have used it with sick
ferrets, and
credit it with helping to save many of them. When it is used
for the
purposes it was intended for, it is excellent. But I don't
think it should
be used routinely on ferrets as a daily supplement. It just
doesn't provide
the things a healthy ferret needs.
So - to answer your question - it is a good thing to have on
hand for the
times it is needed, but if you are feeding your ferret a good
diet, you do
not need to add STAT on a regular basis.
Just my humble opinion.
