Subject: insulinoma in 3 year old

Hi, my Chance probably has insulinoma. His blood glucose was 52 prior
to some minor surgery last week. Today his hind legs went out
from him a few times (1st symptom I've noticed). He has to go back to
vet for stitch removal next week. We're going to test him again.
Chance also had early adrenal disease at age 2 (right was removed).
My vet mentioned putting him on pediapred. I've read that it is best
to do surgery to buy more time before resorting to drugs. If I start
him on the pediapred, can we opt for surgery at a later date? I'm
making sure he eats and am supplementing with gruel. My vet has done
a lot of adrenal surgeries, but don't know how many pancreas ones he
has done. We'll be discussing this at the next appt. What vets could
he consult with if he needs additional info? And is it the general
opinion to remove part of the pancreas and how do you know what part
if nodules are not visible?
For those of you who have experience with the best course to follow,
please feel free to email me. I'd like to hear from ferret owners who
had surgery for their ferrets and how successful it was.
Thanks.
Moxie and Chance
