Subject: Winter weight gain
Hello all. One of my ferrets, Kaya, has gained weight this winter.
She is 2 now, last year she did not gain ANY weight OR go through a
coat change. Is this something that doesn't happen until they are
about this age? She looks so chubby now that we call her "Pudge".
We don't have any way to check her weight (short of taking her to the
vet for no reason BUT to check her weight). When is there cause for
concern? Do ALL ferrets have a coat change and weight gain? Kaya's
coat is so beautiful and fluffy and soft, this winter is the first
time her coat has changed. (Our 1 1/2 yrs. old boy didn't gain
anything at all, and his coat didn't change at all either.
