I have heard and seen that most of the ferrets gain weight during winter. My
ferret has always been very thin and in winter he just looks better, but
never and far from overweight. I thought that was probably because we lived
in Mexico and the weather in worst winter is like a New Englands light
autumn. But this year that we are living in Connecticut, Gigio changed his
winter coat but remained as thin as before, in fact during the three weeks
of sheeding he actually become even thiner (which is usual for him during
this period), now he has just came back to his normal thin. Are there other
ferrets that do not save extra pounds during winter or is just mine? He is
still young (2.5 years old) and I wonder why he can not be more round at
least once a year. His appetite is accord to his weight, he never eats too
much, in fact he eats once in the morning, once in the evening (if I am
there to awake him) and once in the night even if he has free access to food
and fresh water 24 hours a day, but if it is about treats well then he will
eat as much as I could feed him, of course I don't do that.
