Hello Mary and fellow FHLers, I too have a ferret who is having
seizures. Not insulinomic episodes but actual neurological
seizures. I posted back on Nov. 20 (message #8851) about the factors
leading up to this situation. Mary, I completely understand your
struggle to find out "why, what and how do you fix it?" I'm trying
to do the same.

Was Blessing ever on valium (diazepam)? Tigger was put on injectible
valium on an as-needed basis. His seizures stopped on Friday the
23rd but started up again on Monday, Dec 3rd. He is back on
injectible valium but the seizures have not subsided. He won't eat
kibble or drink water on his own, but he'll eat plenty of soup if you
put it down in front of him. My vet discussed phenobarbitol with me
but said he wanted to wait and see how Tigger does without it. Does
Blessing seem to get around okay while she's taking it or does it
knock her out? The valium puts Tiggs out like a light and I can't
see this as being any type of good quality of life. I'm just
wondering what the phenobarbitol will do. Please, if you want to
email me privately since our situations seem similar, you are more
than welcome to. I'm exhausted from all of this and maybe we can
find strength in each other...

To anyone out there who may have knowledge of this stuff, am I
fighting a losing battle with these neurological seizures? I want to
do everything humanly possible but I don't want my baby boy suffering
either. Right now, I'm pondering THE question. I don't want to make
that decision.

Thanks for listening.

Sincerely,
Erin
