I hope they feel better soon Lisa!

I told him about how I have read that

Sukie's right! Reactions are for REAL! When you do your
vaccinations, be sure to stay in the clinic for AT LEAST 30 minutes
after they get their shots. It's a good idea to seperate the shots
too. I wait 2 weeks between vaccinating for rabies and distemper.
Besides, if you are unfortunate enough to *have* a reaction, you'll
know which vaccine made your ferret react. Out of 6 of my ferrets,
three react to the distemper vaccine (fervac-D). Tigger reacts so
violently that I will not vaccinate him again. Even with
pretreatment, he still goes into anaphylactic shock.

Make sure your vet knows that it can happen. He should know what to
do also. It's nerve-wracking enough without having your vet tell you
that it's a myth. Check out this link on Ferret Central, and if
you're so inclined, print it out for your vet too.

It's a good possibility he just doesn't see enough ferrets to know.
Many vets still don't. If he still discounts your concerns, I'd look
for another vet. If I don't feel safe with a vet, I won't trust him
or her to work on my ferret. It sounds extreme, but it makes all the
difference in a crisis situation. :) Best of luck to you...

If you're feeding your ferrets a good high quality ferret food or mix
of high protein high fat ferret foods, you'll be fine feeding that to
your new kits too. They might need it moistened still but it should
be everything they need. If you are moistening it though, be sure to
replace it regularly since wet food will spoil quicker. :]

Happy Holidays...
