Subject: partial paralysis

Hi there everyone, this is my first message so please
excuse any mistakes.

A few weeks ago one of our boys "billy" became
partially paralysed, he was still eating drinking and
pooping etc but had difficulty walking. He was seen by
our local vet who recommended antibiotics, steroids
and rest. He came right within two days. None of my
other ferrets I have 6, 3 girls and 3 boys experianced
any similar symptoms. We assumbed at the time that he
had hurt is back while playing. I am aware that
ferrets with their long spine do get spinal injury and
are prone to this kind of injury.

Now another close friend has the same problem with on
of her boys and there have been two other reported
cases in Auckland our nearest biggest city.

This affliction does not appear to be like some
paraylsis problems we have encountered which are
profound and lead to the death of the ferret.

Have you any insights
REgards Diane P
