Caruso was diagnosed with an ulcerated cornea almost a year ago. He was
treated with atropine and antibiotic ointments in the eye. It healed very
slowly, possibly in part due to the fact that he was on a fairly high dose
of Pediapred for insulinoma. The ulcer seemed to be healing, but he seemed
to have lost sight in that eye, perhaps from a buildup of scar tissue.
Unfortunately, poor Caruso, who also had both adrenals removed and was on
Lupron, then developed cardiomyopathy. He was suffering terriby, and I had
to let him go.
