Subject: Rabies quarantine laws

I do believe they vary state to state--BUt in the case of an unvaccinated
animal and a bite-- at east in NH the quarantine is 6 months- or was in
1997 when we had the same for an unknown intake which perpetrated a bite.
The protocol was for the ferret to be vet examined then housed in a secure
location and rechecked after 14 days-- but then we still needed to keep
control of the animal for 6 months then vaccinate.

It may have changed again with the more recent law changes but I think this
was a much better alternative to kill & test!
