Subject: Re: Need Advice - Completely Baffling Ferret Condition

First off, you will have to realize that I am not a vet, and that the
entirety didn't add up to anything for me, but there are some
points that might help you.

I wondered if he may have survived a very bad blockage that
passed. MOST blockages in ferrets don't show up on x-ray since
most are going to be of soft things that they should not have like
rubber, latex, hard veggies, nuts, some dried fruits, etc. and the
trapped gas also made me wonder about this. I know that a vet
once told me that with untreated blockages sometiems toxins
can build up: I do not know if these can result in seizures or
irregular heartbeat. Certainly, lethargy is seen with them.

Do you know any details about the nature of the irregular
heartbeat?

Early in insulinoma sometimes the drops in blood glucose can
happen suddenly and correct suddenly.

If you decide that you need it there are ferret-expert vets listed in
the recommended vets list in the Files section and in the SOS
list in the Files section, and other websites such as
http://www.miamiferret.org list recommended vets, also.
