Hi Naomi,

First of all, I'm truly sorry that you and Kabuki had to go through
all of this. It sounds so frightening but I'm very glad he made it
through... I don't really know what might have caused it. I suppose
a stroke is a possibility but he's so young! I was also told that
strokes are rare in ferrets, but I don't really know for sure.

You mentioned Kabuki's flinching and I'm going through that right now
with my ferret who is having seizures. Maybe it's similar? Has
Kabuki had his eyes checked? Tigger lost his vision from the
seizures and if he doesn't hear me coming or if there's a loud noise
or something, he flinches and sometimes makes a little "yelp" kind of
sound. Is it possible that Kabuki lost his vision and is also trying
to adjust to not seeing things headed his way? Maybe he startles
easy now. Just something I thought of as I was reading through your
post. You could always put your hand in front of him and see if he
follows it at all. It was explained to me that the optic nerve can
be easily damaged if the seizures are relatively involved. Perhaps a
vet (or someone who knows what they are talking about) might have
more input on that.

Either way, I'm wishing him a speedy recovery and I hope you are able
to hide your new gray hairs. :) Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Sincerely,
Erin
