Hi Renee, did you ever check for insulinoma? I'd have a blood
glucose test run (if you haven't already) and see if maybe he needs
to be put on predisone to help manage his blood sugar. Yes, he
definitely sounds like he's having a hard time right now and part of
me thinks that maybe letting him go would be the kindest option.
However, if you haven't checked his blood sugar, I would do that
first. It's possible that if it IS in fact a sugar problem, the
predisone would help and also encourage him to eat (it stimulates the
appetite). Might help him gain his strength back and put on some
weight too. It's not a miracle drug and since I'm not a vet, I might
be completely off. If I were in the same position, I would opt for
the blood glucose test before the lupron shot or euthanasia
injection.

If you've already checked the blood glucose and it there appears to
be no insulinoma problems, then yes, I would probably opt to let him
go. Always easier said than done though. Having just been through
making the decision a few weeks ago, I know you must be struggling
for an answer. I'm sorry I can't help more...

My thoughts are with you...

Sincerely,
Erin
