Subject: ] My ferret

It is hard to say without more information, or pics, but
whenever a ferret has loss of fur causing bald spots,
one has to think about adrenal disease, since that is by far
the most common cause, especially in an older ferret.

You may want to read about it and see if your ferret
has any other symptoms, like a swollen vulva, or
itchiness, etc. Some great sources are www.ferretcentral.org
under FAQ and www.ferretdoctor.com where you can
find some good pictures.

It may be something else related to her age, I have one
with insulinoma that is ill for awhile and has some fur
loss at the top of the head, and I dont think it is adrenal,
(my vet agrees),but because of her other problems
I am not being agressive in treating her.

You may want your vet to do a complete physical and
some blood tests to check glucose, CBC, kidneys function
due to the ferrets advanced age and see if she is healthy
otherwise and maybe then see how you want to approach
her diagnosis and treatment ( if it is early adrenal do you
want to try Lupron, surgery, supportive care, etc)
