Hi Kathy. In the past, I have frequently had both distemper and
rabies given at the same time, fortunately with no problems.
However, there does seem to be a more likely chance of the ferret
having a bad reaction when both are given together. Also, if both
shots are given together, there is no way to know which shot casued
the reaction. For this reason, it is advisable to separate the 2
shots by a week or more. That way, if your ferret should have a
problem, you know which shot it was, and your vet can report the
incident.
It is nice to know that the vet was willing to act in a way that you
were comfortable with. That is one sign of an understanding vet.
