Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] The End of an Era

Dear Glenn Johnson,

My heart goes out to you. I have 19 little fat ferrets. And
I love them all dearly. I too, thought the world would end
when I became disabled. I thought that I would not be able to
play with my babies like I used to.

They, my little fat ferrets; especially Tinygirl (albino f),
Hoser (Medium sterling silver mitt m), and my favorite Lil'
Darlin' (Golden honey sable f); themselves came up with ways
for their poppa to still have fun from the wheel chair. And
here is what is strange, but proves the intelligence of
ferrets. Before I was hurt, they used to drag out their
harness and leashes, so that I could take them for walks.
But, after I got hurt, they have NOT ONCE brought the leashes
to me. They seem to know that poppa can not take them for
walks anymore.

Oh Glenn, I don't know how you will hold up to being without
your babies. I have raised ferrets for over 27 years now. I
can't imagine not having my little 'friends in fur' around me.
I don't know how you can do it. Stand tall (so to speak),
and please, man, find another little fat ferret for you.
Their are ways if you think about it.

Take care and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS & a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Please. There are older ferrets out there that need love.

To ferret lovers everywhere, a Happy Holiday and a great
Year 2002.

For the first time since 1988, our Xmas will be without one
of the greatest
joys of all, happy little guys excitedly thrashing about in
the
gift-wrapping paper. Our first "ferret Xmas" was in 1989,
the last in 2000.
There were four during that time, Giorgio, Gigi, Gypy and
Chuki. Chuki, the
last, was called home on September 21, 2001. Xmas will
never be the same,
again. Because my own health is failing rapidly, I can't
bring another
little guy home to an uncertain future.

Cherish the little ones, we never get to keep them long
enough.

A memorial to Chuki has been added to my website. You can
see it at

http://www.ctaz.com/~johno/chuki%20memorial.html , as well
as the three
that preceded him, should you choose.

God bless all, hug some babies for me.

Glenn Johnson
