Subject: Can't use hind legs

Hello,
I have a 6 1/2 year old ferret. He woke up last Saturday morning,
not able to use his hind legs. He does not seem to be in pain, but
cannot walk with his hind legs. He drags himself around the floor,
using his front legs. No muscle control. After 3 days, he was able
to give a sign that he had to go potty.
He had his blood drawn, no sign of lymphoma.
A small animal vet that I took him to in my town, said to accept the
fact that he's not a youngster, and this happens with age. She
offered to euthenize him. I, nor Chip, were ready for that. He
wakes up ready to go, but tires after about 15 minutes, but gets up
again sooner than his usual. The first few days, he was eager to eat
and drink, now, he seems to tucker out before he eats his usual
portion.
If some one has a solution, I would appreciate some advise. I have
an appointment with a new vet, Sunday, who treats ferrets more often
that the vet I usually see for the cats. Chip is starting to lose
weight, and is getting more lethargic.
Please let me know what I can try. I'm open for suggestions.

Thank you,
Krystal, Chip, Petrie, and Sophia
