Subject: Gib smells like a hob

Hi all,

Well, it was a rough week right before Christmas, with BJ's illness
and having to euthanize him last Thursday night after heroic efforts
failed to save him.

I'm down to just three old-timers now. Molly is 6, and Fozzie and
Angel soon will be. I joined the FML right before I got them. I can't
believe that much time has passed.

Anyway, Fozzie seemed to be a little stressed after BJ's passing. We
lost his other buddy, Teddy, in October. He gets along with the
girls, but it's just not the same for him, I guess. He started having
some diarrhea, then some greenies, then back to diarrhea, now very
soft and seedy. He's still eating, drinking, and starting to play
more than earlier in the week. I'm keeping a close eye on him.

I believe he has adrenal disease. The only symptom that I have to go
on is that he stinks like a hob! He's smelled like this for several
months and it comes right back after a bath. He has no hair loss...in
fact he has a beautiful white coat. He is not aggressive at all, nor
is he exhibiting any sexual behavior. I am relieved that he doesn't
after learning that this type of behavior can be symptomatic of
adrenal carcinoma.

My vet seemed reluctant to begin Lupron, because his nipples weren't
raised and he had no other signs. My understanding is that adrenal
can also result in overproduction of testosterone, and according to
Dr. Weiss's website, Lupron will also help to suppress its'
production as well. I'm very concerned about the possibility of a
urinary blockage or prostatic disease. He takes longer to urinate,
but still makes a good puddle(when he hits the linoleum!). I do not
want to put him through surgery at 6 years of age.

Anybody have a stinky male respond successfully to Lupron?

Thanks!

Dodie (missing Gidget, Teddy and BJ)
