What a perfect opportunity for me! Just yesterday, my nearly 7 y.o.
Lany had her left adrenal gland removed. The surgery went well and
everything else looked very healthy in there. Because she only had a
little hair loss and no other symptoms, the gland wasn't huge yet.
There was a little white pimple-looking thing that Doc said was
probably where the activity is. The gland was sent to pathology. The
right gland looked fine. I stayed with her the whole time.

Lany is not a good patient. This is her very first "real" surgery and
she is NOT happy being cooped up in the hospital cage. Though she
lives alone in a big Martin's cage, I don't want her climbing for a
few days so she got put in the single-level hospital cage. She ate a
whole jar of Gerber's yesterday and got a good bit of soup this a.m.
I let her walk a little bit and she made it quite a distance.

Anyway, I was very nervous about her having surgery. Several people
on this list (including a vet or two) told me to go ahead with it.
They recommended bloodwork to make sure there were no hidden problems.
We had that done a couple of weeks ago and I scheduled her surgery
during the holidays when I could be home with her.

Go for it! If he is otherwise healthy, he should do just fine.
