I know that you mentioned blood work being done and that there was
no sign of lymphoma - I would caution you to take that with a grain
of salt, as lymphoma does not always (or often) show up clearly in
bloodwork, and the only way to truly diagnose it is with a biopsy.
However, you do not mention if other bloodwork than a cell count was
checked, such as a blood sugar level, or an ADV test, or other
chemistry analyses. Were x-rays taken of his spine? Does he have
pain sensation in his legs, and is simply unable to control them, or
does he have no feeling at all?

Was he placed on any medication?

I am uncomfortable with the statement that a 6 year old ferret
should be expected to have problems of this nature - I have seen
many, many ferrets older than six with no problems at all. I
strongly recommend getting more testing done, and that you find out
why this is happening before making any hasty decisions.
