Subject: Blindness in ferret...

We have an Albino boy of a year or two age, that is one of our
rescues this summer, that is developing Opaque eyes!
This was first noticed around Thanksgiving, in his left
eye...rather suddenly!
Now at Christmas, it is noticed in his right eye..suddenly also!
This is not the lens...but the whole vitrus of the eye changing!
Our Vet said this is beyond his expertise
The left eye has become more opaque since Thanksgiving, and I must
assume the right eye will progress also. I believe he still has
some limited sort of vision in his right eye, as he still plays, and
wrestles with his playmates when they are out...but, when blind??
Is this a case of 'bad genes'?
We're assuming a IOL wouldn't help if it's the vitrus that's
altered...and does anyone even do IOL's on ferrets?

We'd be grateful if anyone had any opinions/help/ideas...

Thanks

Richard, Deb, and the 21 YakiManiacs of Yakima, with 1 not seeing so
well....and 3 Permanantly Free...
