Subject: Thanks for insulinoma protocol, update, question...
First, thank you to everyone who sent me Dr. Dutton's protocol.
Unfortunately, Murphy's vet didn't get a chance to go over it before
her appointment on the 24th, so she's not on it. I think I'm
relieved -- it looks costly. He said we'd discuss it when she comes
in for her next glucose test, mid or end of January. (Would anyone
know about the cost?)
Also -- she was on .1 cc of Proglycem and .45 cc Prednisolone
2x/day. Her glucose was 82 on the 24th (from 40 in mid-November when
she was diagnosed, and 69 Dec. 10th, when she was on .4 cc of
Prednisolone and no Proglycem). I got Pediapred instead of refilling
the Prednisolone -- easier to give her w/out mixing w/baby food and
wondering if she got all of it. She's on 1.4 cc of that now (along
w/the Proglycem). She's also getting .1 cc of Kaopectate 2x daily.
She's playing more, eating her dry food again (although not quite as
often, or as much, as she used to) and the vet said her glucose level
was good for an insulinomic ferret. But she's still got the diarrhea
and the weakness (sometimes falling sideways, and stumbling in & out
of her litter box). Does this sound okay, or does the diarrhea and
weakness mean I'm not doing enough, or that there's something else
going on now? (She's 7.5 years old, and her bloodwork in November
indicated nothing else wrong.)
(Thanks SO much for reading all of this. Seems the harder I try to
keep posts short, the longer they get. Sorry.)
