Subject: I'm perplexed - please help

Hi,

I have a female ferret (MF, age 6) who until last week
has been very healthy.

She has begun to have tarry green diahrrea (this is
not ECE). Several days later, she began to be
somewhat lethargic. She is now also displaying signs
of insulinoma (some hind end weakness and some
"staring" episodes).

I am syringe-feeding her chicken baby food 5 times per
day, giving some colloidal silver, and offering water
with Timmy's Tonic. I also gave her a dose of Benebac
today.

Could all of this be insulinoma? Any thoughts on what
else this could be? I realize I may be dealing with
insulinoma and something else, but have no idea what.

I've looked in my books (several vet texts as well as
laymen books) and have found nothing. Zinc poisoning
is something I'm considering as she has had metal
food/water dishes, but I don't know if they were
galvanized and don't know if this would cause the
green stool.

Her stool is starting to firm up a bit and her
appetite has not changed throughout this incident.
She does eat and drink on her own in addition to the
syringe-feeding.

Any suggestions are welcome. Please help.

Thank you.

Kim

PS: She lives alone (always has) and was rescued from
a bad situation about 3 years ago.
