I agree with Bruce - weird, but I would recommend an x-ray.
I've seen this alot in reptiles and it is always associated with
radiographic changes and infection. Although I like Bruce's idea
about Diabetes. It also sounds like he is having some vascular comprimise
since you note that his feet are cold, that makes a good case for heart
disease
as well. I think getting the tail off makes good sence, you might be able to
use
so local anesthetic to help reduce the amount of general anesthesia. Check
his
kidney values before drugs though because the low blood flow from surgery
could make
things worse if he is borderline failing.
