Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Digest Number 528

I took Chip to a Ferret Vet. She told me she would
take xrays, but it would not change the treatment. The
results would be more for my benefit than for her
diagnosis. She put him on 1mg of Prednisone, 2x daily
for 5 days, then once a day until his next appointment
in 2-weeks.
I have to force-empty his bladder, he only leaks, so
his bladder fills to full capacity. Although the
cat/dog vet told me bloodwork did not show Lymphoma,
she didn't mention other results. The new doctor told
me his other bloodwork was normal, blood sugar was
normal...No other mention of Lymphoma. She expects the
trouble is in his spine, but a deteriation rather than
injury. She voiced that nobody should give up on him.
That's encouragement. With only 2 med doses, he is
more active. He's trying to use his hind legs, kind
of looks like he's swimming. The effort is more than
the result, but he's a trooper.
Thank you to everyone for the advise. He's thriving
on TLC, but like any other kid, I'm sure he'll get
used to it and not want it to change. :-) I'll still
let you know the status as he improves.
