I think that a source of confusion may be that the blood liver values except for bilirubin for ferrets are very commonly misleading so many diagnoses of liver disease are simply incorrect. Yes, ferrets can get liver disease; we had one with cystic liver years ago. Still, it can be over-diagnosed based upon tests, and the rates may be lower than for other species, making it uncommon in comparison.
