Ferrets certainly do get liver disease, liver cancers, etc. However, what I
think I remember Dr. Williams referring to was the large number of ferrets
that are diagnosed with liver disease based on moderately elevated liver
enzymes. Ferrets that don't eat or are not eating well, or that are sick in
many different ways, can have elevated liver enzymes and that does not always
(or even often) mean liver disease is the primary culprit. Unfortunately,
many times that is the diagnosis made.
