Hi,
My Chongie had a first time visit at a new vets ofice. I am concerned about adrenal due to a bald patch on the base of her tail which has started about 3 months ago.
The vet told me that it is possibly adrenal, though she is only 2 years old.
The only thing that was done at this time was a CBC to rule out anemia due to possible ovary remenant.
She wants to do a conservative approach and wait on exploratory surgery at this time. She suggested waiting until Jan and see how Chong does. I was kinda worried about waiting but the doctor stated since she was doing fine and not having any serious problems waiting would be all right. She also said it might be hyperplasia of the adrenal and the hair loss symptoms may come and go.
I don't know if I feel entirely comfortable about waiting. Even though most adrenal growths are not malignant, it's still possible. Also can't it grow and occulded the vena cava? Besides, adrenal just doesn't "go away" does it?
I am not wanting to rush into surgery, but I was kinda expecting that surgery was inevitable. So why wait?
Any comments or feedback would be appreciated.
thank you,
suzi
