Hi there,
I wonder if any of the vets on line could shed some light please. I am actu=
ally taking this little boy to my vet tomorrow, but would be grateful for a=
ny ideas.
I have a sable male, aprox 5yr old. 4 yrs ago when I recieved him he was sk=
in on bone, could not stand, severely dehydrated and was probably, by this =
stage an alcoholic. He was given alcohole regularly as the owner thought it=
very funny was never given water only milk and he drank his own urine regu=
larly.
He did not take long with gentle and loving care to become a healthy but re=
ticent happyish not quite bouncy ferret.I rehomed him along with the one fr=
iend he had made into what I thought was a loving home. A yr later they wer=
e returned as this loving owner had abandoned them. They both seemed to be =
unhappy and his partner got so sick I thought he was going to die. I think =
it was grief as nothing could be found wrong with him. Gradually he rallied=
but has never returned to the happy little ferret he was. He is now agress=
ive with other ferrets even his mate. I decided to keep these two baby's as=
mine. =
Now my little recovered alcoholic, Desuba, is ailing. He has slowly over th=
e last few months gone more and more orange. Until in the last month he loo=
ks pretty much completely orange. He no longer plays and is very agressive =
to all other ferrets not allowing any to come near him.He is drinking his u=
rine and his urine is pretty orange also. He smells sour. A very strong sme=
ll like dirty ears. But smells like that all over.
He is eating and drinking but is now quite thin. He looks miserable, his ey=
es are not wide and alert.
Any ideas please.
