Since this is a male I strongly suggest that you read the prostate
compilation in the Files section at
http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth to find out which meds
can be useful.
You'll want to learn about both Lupron and Melatonin. One way to
manage that is to go to the FHL archives at
http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org/ and use its really great and easy search
engine.
How old is he and how is his health? I certainly know of 8 year olds
who have had this surgery. Health is the determining factor for
surgery, rather than age usually.
Also discuss the medical approaches with your vet.
