I just wanted to write and tell all of you that when you have a sick ferret=
, DO NOT GIVE UP on him or her. I want to tell you all my story and its go=
nna be kinda of long but please Take the time to read this. Back in May, I=
got Prince and he was only 2 1/2 months old. On July 20th, he became so s=
ickly that I had to rush him to an emergency vet clinic. They said he was =
a little dehydrated and that they thought he had either a viral or bacteria=
l infection. They gave him fluids and antibotics and sent him home. Well,=
3 days later, I had him at my vets and he looked worse. I was so scared a=
nd all I did was cry. Well, my vets didn't know what was wrong with him an=
d they took his blood counts and his red cells were at 29. He was a anemic=
. Well, 4 days later, he was worse and I wound up taking him to another ve=
t who thought he may have had distemper and she also put him on meds and sa=
id he was dehydrated again and if I didn't let them keep him for the weeken=
d, he would die. Well, $500.00 later, I brought him home and still no bett=
ter. I was going crazy not knowing what was wrong with my little darling a=
nd nobody else knew what was wrong with him. In the mean time, I had been =
talking to a WONDERFUL lady named Troy Lynn at the family ferret service in=
Kansas. Her and I were trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Wel=
l, a week later, he went back to the vets and I told them how he is eating =
(duck soup) and some ferret food and he looked better but when they checked=
his red cells, they were down to 10. We were all shocked because this bab=
y was playing some, eating etc and he should of been lifeless. Well, Troy =
Lynn advised me to have the vets give him a vitamin B shot and Epogen. I c=
alled the vets and I was willing to spend another $1,000.00 to have them do=
exploritory surgery and see what was going on with him. I had already put=
$1,000.00 into him but there was no way I was letting this baby (4 months =
old) die. I did alot of praying also. Anyhow, when I got up to the vets, =
we talked and decided not to put him through the hell of surgery and since =
he was so happy and go lucky, we were gonna let him live what life he had l=
eft the way he was living it. She agreed to give him the vitamin b and the=
epogen. I was to follow up with my vets in a week. Well, a week came and=
I went to my vets. I was SCARED like crazy and didn't know what was gonna=
happen. Well, they took his red cell count and it came back 36. I was th=
rilled. I was given Prince the epogen every 2 days. The vets said to give=
him the epogen every 7 days now. Well, its been 2 weeks and I took Prince=
to the vets the other day for a vitamin b shot and to check his red cells.=
Well his red cells are now 46. My baby didn't give up and neither did I.=
I fought with every breathe in me for him and he knew it. Yeah, it put a=
dent in my pocket but, its well worth seeing him back to normal and fat as=
can be now. If you ever feel so sad about your ferret cause something is =
wrong, email me and I will go through it with you cause if it wasn't for Tr=
oy Lynn, I don't know what I would of done. My email is cuddles43070@aol.c=
om

Thanks
Luva
