Subject: Strong odour

One of our male castrated rescue ferrets has had a strong odour ever since we've had him - he's about 1.5 years old. He smells like really strong smelly armpits. He doesn't smell like an uncastrated male - I saw a post suggesting a ferret had a retained testicle - I also had a feel and could feel anything (although of course I'm not vet trained so could have missed something).
Is there any known condition that would make him smell more than my other ferrets?
