Hi there :) I have a couple questions I hope you can help with.
I have 2 sick ferrets, and need answers.
First one: Baby has insulinoma, unknown age, been on pred (.20) about 3 months now and has been doing fine, she dont really eat reg kibble much but loves her duck soup. Lately shes been retaining fluids real bad, we put her on lasix ( 1/4 pill 2x a day, starting to up that to 3 x a day) but she is real lethargic and looks horrible, she also had a bad bout of diarreah, which she has been on metrodizol, .25 2x a day, that has helped alot. Is there anything else we can do for this little girl??
Ferret # 2, Sammy, again unknown age, he is a rescue also, like the rest of our 18 LOL
Sammy had adrenal surgery Aug 2001, other adrenal looked normal, he has been doing great ever since, recently, is showing signs again, major fur loss on tummy and chest.
Acts normal, eats great, poops fine and lots of energy. Altho, last couple days is having problems with his hind legs.
Hes unstable on them, staggers and loses balance. He kinda reminds me of a puppy, that walks sideways for a lack of discription. It hasnt slowed him down, he still runs around, just but not correctly. yesterday, he was checked for insulinoma, glucose normal, he seems fine except for this problem, we ( me, hubby and vet) are stumped. Was told he could have some other neurological problem, but we dont know what.... any ideas??? do you think another adrenal surgery is in order, or will that even do anything for him??
Thank you for your time, we are really in spot trying to help these little ones, any info would be greatly appreciated :)
thank you.
