(Perhaps the ferret is ill, and needs a bland chicken baby food diet for
a while)

If more ferrets were fed a better more natural diet perhaps there would
be no need to feed something like bland baby food ever again, my energy
boosting ferret food is raw eggs, full cream milk and liquidized fatty
beef, 1/3 of each. Well it works on my ferrets.

(Here in the U.S. so much of our meats are contaminated with E coli and
salmonella that it really isn't safe to feed raw meats)

It's the same here in the UK but if you start feeding raw to kits they
seem to have little trouble with any pathogens the come across in later
life. I'm more worried with the amount of hairball medicine that is
recommended to be given to ferrets. I'm positive the amount of laxatives
that are fed to some ferrets cannot be doing them any good and is
probable the cause of a lot of ferret digestive problems. Not one of our
200 club members feeds laxatives to their ferrets regularly and I cannot
find a member who has had a ferret operated on for a blockage that
wasn't caused by eating rubber etc. Has anyone dissected a ferret
hairball? Is it ferret fur or what I think more likely bedding, carpet
fibre or human hair. Chris.
