WE HAVE JUST ADOPTED (TODAY) A FERRET WE WERE TOLD HAD PROBLEMS "GETTING ALONG WITH OTHER FERRETS" IN ITS FORMER HOUSEHOLD. IT WAS IN A HOUSEHOLD OF 3 OTHER FERRETS. ONCE WE GOT THIS SWEET LITTLE GIRL HOME, IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THIS LITTLE DEW IS COMPLETELY DEAF.SHE DOESN NOT HEAR ANYTHING OR RESPOND TO ANY NOISE UNLESS IT INVOLVES A BIG VIBRATION. SHE IS HIGHLY AGGRESSIVE ALTERNATING WITH EXTREME TIMIDITY, WHICH WOULD BE TYPICAL OF A DEAF FERRET IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT.
I'VE READ A NUMBER OF WEBSITES TONIGHT REGARDING THIS AND AM HOPING ANYONE WITH REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE ME SOME HELPFUL HINTS OF THEIR OWN. WE'VE OWNED A NUMBER OF FERRETS THROUGH THE YEARS, SO WE'RE USED TO THE INTEGRATION PROCESS, BUT THIS IS OUR FIRST DEAF FERRET.
