Well, I haven't heard of this particular neoplasm in ferrets, but it is a common one in dogs. The epulides are tumors of the ligament that holds the tooth in the socket. Ossifying varieties are benign, but may regrow if not excised completely.
Because it has not previously been reported in ferrets, I do worry about this diagnosis, and I would wonder about some form of sarcoma, which is malignant but far more common in ferrets.
Sure would like to take a gander at this one.
