(she specifically says that salmonella must be included in the
differential for gastric upset.)

A few years ago it was stated all eggs and chickens in the UK were
contaminated with Salmonella so don't feed raw eggs to babies and very
old people, a very few people with compromised immune systems had become
ill. There are pathogens everywhere and we all generally become immune
to then, ferrets fed raw from a young age cope with the bad bugs. Most
types of E coli and Salmonella are harmless in small numbers but don't
feed a kibble fed ferret a lump of smelly meat and not expect it to
become ill. Chris.

Ferrets are only domesticated polecats and they will eat carrion when
they find it.
