Hypoglycemia means low blood glucose. A ferret with insulinoma is usually hypoglycemic to some degree all the time. An "episode" is simply my way of differentiating between a hypoglycemic seizure or coma from the sudden onset of less severe, but still serious, symptoms.
An episode of hypersalivating could be caused by something like being a little late with a meal or missing one completely. Even stress can bring this on.
3 mg twice a day is a pretty large dose. Is the syringe about half the diameter of a pencil and about 2.5 to 3 inches long?
I'd say you might want to look into adding Proglycem (diazoxide) to her treatment. If this works for her, and it doesn't seem to for all, you might even be able to reduce the pred a bit. Pred does tend to make them fat. My own Beasley went from 3.2 pounds to just over 5 pounds after being on pred long term, and he never got anywhere near the dose you're giving. He was one of those that couldn't tolerate Proglycem and it didn't help his blood glucose levels.
She could have fluid buildup for other reasons, and if this hasn't be discussed with your vet, I would do so.
