Hi all, I am new to the list and have a couple of questions. First my ferre=
ts are Ziggy (f) 4 and Gunther (m) 2. Both are Marshall ferrets that eat Ma=
rshall food. They are in good health except Ziggy does not tolerate change =
well at all. She gets depressed and loses hair for around 3 weeks then she =
is ok again. Just this summer she started losing hair on her back and tail =
like if you parted her down the middle she had a quarter inch wide bald str=
ipe. Also on her abdomen she had small red spots and she scratches a bit. I=
took her to her vet and they did a hair culture and said she had a fungal =
infection of unknown origon (ringworm he said). She has a round of antifung=
al meds and all is well. A week later Gunther had a wound on his side that =
was scabbed over...this showed up in a matter of hours when I was at work; =
I take him to the vet and he is diagnosed with a hotspot and given oral ant=
ibiotics and dermal ointment this works and all is well. Here's the rub...G=
unther also had a positive hair culture but showed no symptoms of the fungu=
s. Does anyone have a clue what is going on? I am always on the lookout for=
adrenal symptoms...is their diet on Marshall healthy? The get few treats Z=
ig likes Craisins and Gunther likes raisins and both like a little banana a=
t times but nothing else.
Thanks for your input.
Christa
