When my Peanut was suspected to have ECE she went downhill real fast..she w=
as severely dehydrated and it was getting more and more difficult to get fo=
od into her so I took back to the vets and she spent 4 days in the hospital=
... they did blood work and of course the ALT test came back real high, lik=
e 1100...they took it daily and on the 4th day it was up to 4300...the vets=
thought she wasn't going to make it but I took her home and gave her aroun=
d the clock supportive care and took her to another vet in about a week who=
did the blood work again and her ALT was down to 694... that was 2 years a=
go at the age of 3 and she is still going strong today... the second vet fe=
lt the test was high because she wasn't eating even though she was getting =
IV's...they said she was eating her kibble but when I brought her home she =
was still skin and bones and NOT eating at all unless I force fed her... Ho=
pefully the first vets were reading the ALT correctly... is there different=
ways of reading this for different animals? Oh, I forgot to mention 4 days=
prior to her getting ill with possible ECE she had a near fatal vaccine re=
action to her distemper shot which put her in the hospital overnight...I do=
n't know if this played a part in the elevated ALT count or not...
