First off, I am not a vet...I am only letting you know about my experiences
w/ liver problems.
3 of my ferrets that have had surgery w/ Dr. Weiss have had biopsies showing
chronic portal (sp?) hepetitis. He has treated them with actigal 0.1ml BID
(twice a day) for 3 weeks then 0.1ml 1x/day for 3 weeks, then re-check the
blood w/ a liver profile. When we get the blood work done, he is looking at
the liver levels to see if they went down or if more treatment is needed.
This probably doesn't help you too much since you are unsure if your ferret
has hepetitis but I do know it is something that few ferret owners and/or
vets know about. Dr. Weiss says there has been little public info on it other
than word of mouth and there is little documentation on it.
Maybe someone else who has spoken to him can jump in here since I don't have
all the details.
