A vet that seems to not care is not good for you. We had a vet that seemed to not care (yet charged phenomenal amounts to care for our guys) and we just could not go back after a situation that they were very blasé about but was hugely important to us. We canvassed the area and "interviewed" 3 others offices and vets. We found one who "fits" and really seems to remember us from one visit to the next and does a clean job of any surgery and never forgets to call after visit to see how everyone is. Still costs an arm and a leg but hey.......

About the hacking - I have had that happen and i think it is about the tubes like your vet said - but if it does not go away within the week I would pursue it with your vet or pick another vet - for piece of mind or a second opinion.

About the fluid buildup - our little girl has adrenal and Insulinoma and she has obvious fluid build up in her abdomen. (We are scheduled for surgery next week.) So while I am not sure, maybe this is a side effect of this illness.
