I have looked around in Smartgroups, and as near as I can tell, we can't modify the message footer material. It is a good idea, though. Will keep looking, I might have missed it.
For any newcomers: the FHL used to be hosted at YahooGroups, and it is not possible to integrate old list archive messages within Smartgroups. So, if you use Smartgroups' built-in archive search, you will miss all of the stuff from YahooGroups, which is still the majority of FHL data. So, we created an off-site archive with a custom-built search engine that is quite a bit more flexibile than the ones that are built-in with most message group sites. It has all of the old messages and accumulates the new ones as we go along. It is at http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org/ and there is a link to it on our main Smartgroups web page.
