I understand that a diagnosis can be elusive. But, my question was what Dr. Williams is suggesting we do next. He said that we shouldn't start treatment until everyone was in agreement that it is, in fact, IBD. I thought that we were in agreement. I suspected it, my vet agreed, and a pathologist confirmed it. I haven't heard of any other way to diagnose IBD than through a biopsy sent through pathology. Do I withhold treatment because that might NOT be correct? I think that is what Dr. Williams was suggesting.
Is it suggested that we don't trust the pathologist's diagnosis of IBD? If so, what further testing needs to be done?
If other tests or opinions should be sought, please provide details of what we should do. Just stating that a diagnosis isn't good doesn't tell us what we should do next.
