Please if anyone can reassure me. My little Slinky had surgery for insulino=
ma on Wednesday the 11th. It was extra tough on her. The Doc had a hard tim=
e making the incision because of a previous surgery. Then while in there lo=
oking around he couldn't find her right adrenal. He tried and tried but sai=
d because of bleeding etc. he didn't think it was worth continuing. My poin=
t being, that all just sounds to be pretty tough on a little one. She was h=
orribly bruised. They didn't think she was eating as she should, I presume =
they meant on her own, so I went in Thursday and fed her out of her usual b=
owl, holding it under her
nose close enough that she didn't have to move to get at it. Well, today, F=
riday they told me I could pick her up which I did. She seemed a bit more a=
lert and happy to see me. I got her home and discovered that she can't stan=
d on her back legs. I don;t think anyone at the vet realized this. She did =
have a "wobbly" back end even before the surgery and before being diagnosed=
with insulinoma. We always thought that it was because she had lived in a =
three level but tiny cage for several years before we got her. Her only mov=
ement was up and down the ramps. She got much better after we had had her a=
while. She can move her legs now but can't stand on them and just tries to =
slide herself along. We can't let her do that because of the incision. I pi=
ck her up and place her on the spot where she potties. When she urinates an=
d deficates it of course gets all over her. I clean her up but again, poor =
thing. I'm very careful but just seems so much for her. The vets office sai=
d that it may be that her one leg is sore and stiff from the cathater and s=
he's still just weak. Does this sound right? I am so worried. I'm hating my=
self right now for putting her through this. Prior to the surgery she was t=
he happiest little girl who ran and romped and played all day. Her only sym=
ptom was a BG level of 71. Now she can't walk.I'm hoping my friends here ca=
n reassure me. Or has anyone had anything like this happen? I'm sorry this =
is so long. I needed to connect with you all. I am feeling horrible.
Thank you very much for any input that's forthcoming.
